STOP PRESS – OLGA HAS NOW GOT A NEW JOB!
Here’s Olga’s feedback on the SmartMatching Programme….
“I want to tell you about my training with SmartMatching and how it helped me to find a job. I am from Ukraine. Because of the war, I had to move to the UK in June 2022. I have two children and live in a small village. I have wanted to find a remote job because taking care of kids is time-consuming if you are alone. I had been trying to find a job in my specialty for a long time, but I received only rejections. In the Job Centre, I got a leaflet about SmartMatching which provided an opportunity on learning and finding a remote job. My course started in February. I really enjoyed these online sessions and training material on the SmartMatching portal. I became more confident and had the energy for a new stage of job seeking. With SmartMatching I opened the opportunity to take some courses on online training platforms for professionals and it was useful when I passed my interview later. Furthermore, they did a post on LinkedIn about me and it worked. I got some contacts with potential employers.
A week after training I had several interviews. SmartMatching trainers supported me with preparing and I felt confident – more than ever before. And only one week later I got an offer! I am grateful to the trainers who helped me overcome the difficulties associated with finding a job. It was a great experience and I really appreciate it.”Let me introduce myself – I am Olga Lavrinets, a Ukrainian refugee; I moved to the beautiful county of Cornwall, UK after the war started, and I am here with my children.
My professional background includes over 15 years as a database developer and system analyst, for one of the biggest telecom providers in Russia. I am skilled in SQL and ELT tools and have extensive experience in data warehousing, reporting and SQL development. I am really passionate about my work, a reliable person with a great work ethic and I love to contribute to the objectives of the wider team. I also enjoy partnering with clients and developers, to add value to the organisation I represent. In my last company, I was a key leader on a project that moved Oracleb to the open-source Greenplum. Unfortunately, the war took away my position and led to me and my children seeking refuge in the UK. Whilst here, I have also worked on a freelance basis on a dental clinic project, and I am open to further freelance work if required.
I also love trying new roles. For example, I worked part-time as a copywriter, and I really enjoyed it! Bi-lingual in English and Russian, my English language skills are improving quickly and I am committed to continuing to develop my fluency in this regard.
As I am now the sole carer of 2 children, I am hoping to find a role that would allow me to work remotely. I am very flexible regarding what role that might be.
Having recently completed the SmartMatching course on Remote & Hybrid Working, I am confident that I have the skills and behaviours to be a trusted and resourceful home worker, and would be dedicated to providing quality work to my next employer.
I would love to join a team that is working on interesting projects, with a community benefit, and would welcome suggestions for a remote position where I could utilise my skill set, Please get in touch if you are looking for a committed, reliable and flexible worker.
